AFRICAN DANCE IN EDUCATION & THE COMMUNITY

13 Jan 2016

I continue to run weekly movement and dance for people with mental health conditions at St Denys Care Home in Barnstaple. I am also continuing to do movement and dance bi-weekly for the frail and elderly at Fremington Manor, near Barnstaple. These sessions explore fun cross cultural movement and dance using props such as balls, balloons, sticks and cloths with a lot of fun and laughter. It helps everyone to forget their problems in a session of pure enjoyment which sometimes ends in a gentle shoulder massage which everyone enjoys.
I am available for residencies in educational establishments from pre-school through to Primary and Secondary Schools, Further Education and Universities for African dance for performance or for it’s own sake combined with or without stories, arts and crafts during functions such as arts weeks, festivals and black history month(October).
